Fans of the legendary assassin can finally breathe a sigh of excitement—John Wick 5 is officially in development. Keanu Reeves is set to reprise his iconic role, and director Chad Stahelski will once again take the reins. The news was announced during Lionsgate’s CinemaCon presentation, sparking massive buzz across social media.
Despite the seemingly final tone of John Wick: Chapter 4, the franchise isn’t done yet. According to Lionsgate’s Motion Picture Group chair Adam Fogelson, this new chapter promises something fresh. “Keanu, Chad, and the team wouldn’t come back unless there was something incredible to tell,” he said to the crowd in Las Vegas.

The fourth installment left many questioning Wick’s fate. That ambiguity, according to Stahelski, was by design. In a recent interview, the director explained they filmed multiple endings and ultimately chose the one that left viewers with just enough doubt to keep the legend alive.
The response online has been massive. One excited fan tweeted, “JOHN WICK 5?? Baba Yaga ain’t done yet!!! 🔥🔥”. Another joked, “Keanu Reeves has more lives than a video game character.”
Stahelski has been closely involved in shaping the Wick universe since day one, and he’s hinted before that new stories could always emerge. “If the audience is hungry for more,” he said, “we’ll find a way to serve it up.” That approach appears to be paying off—the franchise has already earned over $1 billion globally.

Lionsgate also teased more from the Wick-verse. “Ballerina,” starring Ana de Armas, is due out in June 2025. Meanwhile, an animated prequel focused on Wick’s early career—specifically the fabled “impossible task”—is also in the works. Reeves is expected to voice the character himself.
Social media has been lighting up with theories and speculation. A now-viral TikTok breakdown explored how the fifth movie might pick up after John’s supposed demise, theorizing it could follow his time in exile—or possibly, revenge from beyond.
Whether he’s alive, hiding, or reborn, John Wick’s journey isn’t over. With Chad Stahelski behind the camera and Keanu Reeves back in the spotlight, fans can expect more high-octane storytelling drenched in emotion, elegance, and bullet casings.
