Bella Thorne Says Mickey Rourke Caused On-Set Injury and Humiliated Her During Filming

Bella Thorne has come forward with disturbing claims about her experience working alongside Mickey Rourke on the set of their 2020 thriller Girl. In several emotional statements shared across platforms, she revealed that a scene left her physically injured, describing it as one of the most traumatic moments in her acting career.

Thorne alleged that Rourke, during filming, used a metal grinder in a way that resulted in bruising on her pelvic bone. The scene, where she was restrained in jeans, turned painful and frightening. She wrote on Twitter that “it wasn’t scripted, and I never consented to it.” The tweet quickly went viral, with fans expressing shock and support.

She also appeared in a candid Instagram video, recounting how Rourke allegedly refused to follow direction and created tension on set by isolating himself. According to Thorne, she was forced to approach him privately in his trailer after he ignored the director and producers. “It felt like I had to beg him to finish the job,” she said.

Clips of their on-screen moments resurfaced on YouTube, where viewers are now rewatching their scenes with a new lens. One Reddit thread dedicated to the incident has amassed thousands of comments, as people debate the responsibility of production teams when such behavior occurs.

Thorne also described a separate moment when Rourke, while revving his engine, intentionally kicked up dirt to cover her on set. She posted a TikTok video where she replayed the moment in slow motion, highlighting how visibly shaken she was afterward. In her caption, she noted, “This wasn’t method acting. It was humiliating.”

Media outlets quickly picked up the story. In a Rolling Stone interview, she explained that her goal is not revenge but accountability. She said she waited until now because she needed time to process what happened and speak out with clarity, not emotion. “I don’t want this to happen to anyone else,” she said.

Thorne’s claims come just as Rourke faces backlash for unrelated behavior on Celebrity Big Brother UK, where he was issued a formal warning for comments toward fellow contestant JoJo Siwa. Thorne commented briefly on the incident via X, writing, “Some patterns just repeat.”

In a resurfaced Facebook Watch interview, Thorne had previously praised the film for its story but noticeably avoided commenting on Rourke. Fans are now reinterpreting that silence as a warning in itself. “Now it makes sense why she was so distant during press,” one user commented under the clip.

Representatives for Rourke have denied all allegations, stating through a statement to Variety that he was unaware of any discomfort and that no complaints were made during filming. The statement, however, has not stopped growing online criticism, with many saying that silence does not equate to innocence.

Thorne ended her latest post with a quiet but direct message: “I trusted my scene partner. I was wrong.” Her words have now launched a larger conversation about actor safety, boundaries, and accountability — and her followers are urging producers and studios to take a harder look at how on-set behavior is monitored moving forward.
